Intercountry Adoption Centre1. Introduction
Applications for overseas adoption are no longer routinely accepted by the Adoption Service. The Adoption Service referrers any potential applicants who wish to adopt a child from overseas to the Intercountry Adoption Centre (IAC), as the they have a service level agreement with the IAC.
The Adoption Service will hold a record of persons referred to the IAC.
2. Responding to Requests for Information
All requests for information about inter country adoption made by telephone or letter will be responded to promptly. Staff in the Adoption Service will establish that the caller lives in the Local Authority/Slough Children First area and if so, refer the caller to the IAC. Information about the IAC can be found online via their website. Staff will then seek the caller's permission to make a note of their details for our records. It is recognised that many people will also self refer to the IAC as the information is accessible on our website.
